...news...

Well, apart from this website being fairly 'new' (and it ain't finished yet - lots more sections and piccies to come!)...

...the news...

Oooh, this is a bit out of date now, isn't it...sorry guys... (March 2003)

April 2002
We're now taking names for who wants to attend Biggar - the Scottish VW Owners festival show. Get in touch with Graham or Phil to ensure you get a copy of the application form. If you can't get along for the whole weekend, come along for a day and say a brief hello!

February 2002
Dub Freeze was here! We'll had a small stall upstairs in the show - thanks to everyone who came along to say hello.

December 2001
We all hope you had a great Chrimble and have a very Happy New Year!

November 2001
The Scottish Volkswagen Owners Club Indoor Parts Mart and Car Show - Freeport Designer Village in West Calder, Scotland.
Although this show wasn't the best advertised gig in the country, we did attend.
Update: those that attended the show have decided it's not a good idea to give a report of what they thought. Hmmmm.....anyway, roll on Biggar and let's hope this one works out to be more of a success.

It appears that VW in their wisdom are trying to close down websites and businesses that use their name without their express permission. If they want to kill off their grass roots following, then they are going the right way about it!

Check out this:

http://www.jazzdesign.co.uk/cgi-bin/ubb_totalvw/Forum4/HTML/000848.html

...and VW of America (where this all started) are mailing this letter out wholesale!

http://www.classicvws.com/VWOA.htm

...but this nonsense has now spread to the UK.

Those of you who frequent the Total VW site will already be familiar with all this. They have already forced VW Junkies to change their name to Dub Junkies and are trying to get Brian Burrows to change the name of "VW Action" to something else.

To complain to Volkswagen e-mail them (if you ain't done it already) at:

volkswagencustomercare@volkswagen.co.uk

The more people who bombard them, the better!

May 2001
A little tidbit from our local free paper 'Metro' [Dated May 4, 2001]
There's a Beetle in my garden!
A man digging in his back garden got a shock when his spade hit metal - and he unearthed a Volkswagen Beetle. The 31-year-old was even more surprised to find the car in full working order after being buried for ten years. Neighbours said the previous tenant had buried the VW in Frankfurt, Germany, because he was annoyed when officials refused to send his registration documents

Normally it's the little things that get into the 'Northumberland Herald and Post', published and distributed throughout Northumberland and parts of North Tyneside, but not always....in this case, it was a report on the Morpeth Fair. An annual event which is always well supported (as long as it doesn't rain too hard!!) and the Geordie Bug'ers like to be involved too.
