...the members...

There are too many Geordie Bug'ers members to mention! The Alumni Association would have kittens if we ever tried to arrange a reunion, but there are a few of us who have been around for a long, long time....here's some info' about us!

...the people...

Graham...the Club Chairman
Graham has stepped into the breach left by the previous Chairman, Howie James, who has sadly moved onto pastures new. Graham has far too many cars to mention, has too many projects on the go and is forever busy - if you ever need to find him, check the local scrapyard!

Sarah...the Club Secretary and Treasurer
Sarah is Club Secretary and Treasurer. She has many tales to tell about Bugs and Vans - all of them terrifyingly funny! She goes to the Bug Shows in her Van, which becomes the social club of the camp every time!

She's in this photo with her other half, Andy, at Phil and Michelle's wedding in July 2000.

Phil...the Events Organiser
Phil is the Events Organiser for the Club (recently elected!). He's married to Michelle, has a fab Bug and is our resident 'helmet' creator (a tradition of filling a fireman's helmet with every version of alcohol available at shows and then passing it round to see who can stomach the scum frothing at the top!)....hence the photo (we had to improvise with a pop bottle that year!).

Michelle
Michelle is married to Phil....is completely into Bugs and all things V-Dub! She's in this photo with her brother at Bug Jam.

Cath...the Club Skivvy
Okay, this is me - hiding in a tent. I live with Graham and I tend to try to help organise things. I created this website and, although it's not perfect, it'll do for now (still waiting for photos and stuff to add to it, guys!). I love my Bug (lovingly rebuilt by the other half) and the other half - good thing too because I have to share my house with him and all the spare, rusty bits and bobs that he's acquired over the years!

The other members include:

Jay
Jay is the mastermind behind 'The Bug Barn'. He's a bit mad being into everything that is scary and adrenalin related...you name it, he's done it. Anyway, he's a canny bod...despite throwing himself down mountains on nothing more than a pedal bike and going surfing in the North Sea (must be mad - it's waayyyy too cold!)...so get yourself along to his garage for, well, basically, what his advert says!

Cool Dad
Cool Dad is Mark's Dad (Mark is in the Navy and is always away) who comes along to shows to share in our beer and to have a laugh. He's well known for his singing and dancing to Abba while cooking sossies on the barbie....now't phazes him - he's fab!

Ross
Ross is cool. He likes his beer. He likes his bugs. What else do you need to know?!

Barry
Partaking in the Helmet!
Jester
(He doesn't always sleep...honest)

Riff
A tear-jerking sight at Glastonbury '97. Our Elaine sobs over the travesty which...actually looked pretty cool!
Colin
Colin with a very cool looking splitty! [By the way, Colin, I have a very mad photo of you - methinks you will have to buy me lots and lots of beer to stop me from putting it up here on the website! Evil cackle....]

...Roy, Mark, Rachel, Andy, Craig, Robert....and many, many others!

...the bugs, vans, general v-dubs...

Graham's Bug - 'Horace'
Let's play....what is it?

It's Graham's Buggy!

...and Graham and Brett rock!

Graham's Trike
I call this 'The Beast' cos' it likes the taste of flesh. A long story...and one that everyone is bored of hearing!

Cath's Bug - 'Beelzebug'

Phil's Bug

Andy's Bug

Mark's Ghia

^Elaine's Dream Car

Basil? Not sure of the story behind this one...fancy telling it, Riff?
Elaine says: My Beetle was called Basil as he was originally going to be called Herb (as in Herbie and it was always the intention to spray him green). Then I changed the name to Basil (another herb) then someone at work pointed out that was a really appropriate name because he was always "fawlty"!

Paul's Bug

Rob's Bug
My friend Robert and his brother got together and rebuilt this beauty. Tis' just a shame that it's in Ireland and not over here...hint, hint Rob... :-)

And there are more...I just need the photos folks!
